Time to move is now.

I am racing home on my bike.
Carefully racing, remaining alert and having a safe day.
I follow a path in my mind, one I know by heart.
Watch for cars, mind the turns, fly down the straightaways.
Listening for loose gravel popping under my tires.
Racing.
Carefully racing.
Focused on the road.
Never minding the scenery.
Racing home to my family.
The family I made from scratch.
My whole life is built on top of a quaking pile of luck that I have to shore up constantly.
Like a pyramid on top of an upside down pyramid.
Slapping mud into the cracks.
Tying down flaps and nailing flats to beams.

Racking 'em up.

I am never sure about my punctuation.
Spelling is not so much of an issue because I know how to spell.
I don't even need the spell check.
In fact, if there were a way to turn off spell check forever, I wouldn't even give a shit.
Seriously.
I am so good at spelling that I get phone calls from guys at work asking me how to spell things.
In your face.
Punctuation is another thing entirely.
I am aware of it, but I am not sure of how to use it correctly all of the time.
In fact, if there were a punctuation check, and IT got turned off forever, I would be very sad.
Not as sad as riding my bike to the show store in order to buy some new shoes and then arrive at the store to find it is closed.
That is what happened just now.
So I rode back home, through the Puerto Rican Parade (Puerade?) and all of the young men speeding dangerously around to show off to the girls.
I rode past all of the smells of people grilling meats and other foods.
I rode past all of the brunch crowds squinting at their menus and sweating in the sun.
I made it home and Truen was on the tread mill, glistening and smiling.
She had a party last night, a comic party.
She and her friend made a bunch of new comics, and they had a party to show them all off.
It was nice.
I met several new and very nice people.
I met a woman from Sweden!
And I had a very mind blowing conversation in the yard about the future of the world.
It was a very good evening.
And today has been a very good day, minus the shoe store debacle.
SEE!
You try spelling debacle on the fly.
Anyways, we leave tomorrow for Arizona to see my Dad.
I don't know if I will be able to update while I am away, but I will try.
I do not want to fail you, the faithful blog follower.
I hope all is well,

one bag of rocks

How did we get here?
Are you having a baby?
Man, if you are sort of wanting to get your ass in gear.
If you want to give yourself some deadlines to get some things together.
If you want to switch between a shotgun and a sniper rifle with a laser sight.
Try having a baby.
Or imagine having a baby.
It can sort things out pretty well.

So I am thinking a lot about my life lately.
I am taking stock.
This is probably most likely because of the impending date with destiny.
But you know, I am trying to imagine what kind of Dad I will be.
What kind of Mom will Truen end up being?
Because we didn't really prepare for this.
And we hardly ever prepared for anything before.
But we somehow keep going, and it has been so good!
But now we have to be thinking about this new person, and I am so excited, but I am just thinking about what do I look like as a Dad?
I wonder if my Dad did this?
Maybe every one that is about to be parents does this.
But I look in my hand mirror, and I have to sort of justify to myself why I am allowed to be having a baby.
For the most part I believe myself.

But it wasn't too long ago that Truen and I decided to ride our bikes to New York.
In October!
And I mean, how can that be that we would try to do that?
We had NO training!
We didn't even try to prepare outside of buying some new clothes, a bike trailer and
some maps that we didn't even get a chance to use.

We were on our Bikes.
We went on a Ferry.
We rented and drove a Truck.
We flew on a Plane.

But you know, I feel like all of that stuff made it possible for me to do what I am doing now.
In Wisconsin I was really scared about the idea of having a baby.
But after our adventure, after our ordeal.
I feel like I have been able to count on Truen for THIS long.
So I might as well right?

Well anyways, I was just thinking about all the baby stuff.
We had baby class today, so maybe it is just because of that.
Looking at all the other Dads and comparing myself to them.
I can say that there were a lot of iPhones.

Tomorrow is the game.
Go Pack!
