Roll To The Rescue

The weather is changing so quickly.
Again, it all has a sense of doom.
Unless you are ready.

Follow the lines, chart the progress, make your map and keep it safe.

We're going to need our wits about us.

If you want to go look at this painting, you can. It is
hanging up at Louis B. James Gallery

Of Your Own.

A friend gave me a pomegranate.
Two of them actually, but I had to share one of them.
Because you share with friends.
The other one was straight mine.
I ate it today, entirely.

I feel pretty good about my decision.

Another thing I feel good about?
I kept Burger home from school because he was sick.
He said he wasn't, but he was.
And even though I am 99% sure it was from school that he got sick,
I couldn't send him there.

A part of it was just that I wanted him nearby today.
I don't know why. Just cuz.
Even when he is coughing directly into my eyes.
Or describing his "spicy poops" to me in real time.

Both things that he did today, and both times I just smiled and wished for more.

We went to the pharmacy the other evening to get some tissues.
He wanted me to carry him.
What am I going to do? Say No?
There may come a day, sooner than I may be ready for
when I will not physically be able to lift him.
But my logic is that as long as I keep lifting him on a daily basis
I should be able to carry him well into his teens.
Which I plan on doing.

Note to self: Aim to be physically able to carry a 100+ lb. Burger to the ends of the Earth.

Speaking of...
I was speaking with Gene the Drummer, he lives downstairs.
He melts the paint off the walls with his skills.
He also melts the paint off my brain with conversations about the future of the planet.
The ends of the Earth (full circle)
He was a victim of the flooding.
His drums are fine, don't worry.
But he was talking about the melting ice, the rising waters.
The 20 year forecast is grim Bro.

According to Gene the Drummer.
And science, also science says it's game over.

Which is exactly why I have to be able to carry that much Burger.
Just in case.
I plan on working in shifts.
One carrier, one sleeper.

Right now I am both.

When Will It End?

I was talking with this guy today about the Sun exploding.
He told me we got like, 5 million more years to go before that shit hits the fan.
It was second hand information though so I don't know how accurate any of that information is.
I mean first you have to believe in the Sun as a real thing, but I'm not here to talk conspiracies.

I was talking to this other guy, this was yesterday, and he was saying how things used to be exciting, but not anymore. Ignorance is bliss, that's what they say anyways.
Was a time when I was little and I didn't give a shit about the environmental impact of my video game system, or the cheap labor that went into making it.
But all that is different now and we are supposed to be concerned about these things.
Which is fine and good and important for the future.

The future is weird because people will have you plan and save for it, but most people don't do the real things necessary to ensure that there actually is a future.
This is bad for most of us, if not all of us.
Retirement or not.

Word Up.

I was talking around the fire with some dudes.
We were talking about the crazy weather, or extreme weather, the blizzards, the tornados this summer.
We talked about early Science Fiction.

I think that I came away from this talk with this:
I don't think that it is about WHY the climate is changing, it's just that it IS.

And the early science Fiction writers knew what was up.
They predicted this life that we live in, and I think it is interesting that it worked out like this.
I am not completely aware of what modern Science Fiction might be, but I wonder if it accurately predicts the future like the early stuff did.
Didn't those first authors just build off of what what they saw happening around them?
They saw the frontiers of humankind's imagination and just built off of that?

Around the fire we talked about how we are kind of living in this dystopic future that many of them predicted, but it is not nearly as bad as they thought it would be. I mean, it could be much worse.
For me.
And possibly you.
Still it is bothersome and I understand the people that see our future as doomed.
But I have to wonder if it STILL hasn't gone bad, is it possible that it may never do so?

Who knows?

Slow Deflation.

There are a lot of parallels between having a child and having a dog.
For example sometimes I just got to take this guy out for a run.
Like the other day I took him for a run and he ran 0.9 miles!
I swear! I just looked it up on the map!
He just ran and ran.
When he saw that I was not running with him he would scream at me to RUN!
Come on! He would yell.
All the way to the grocery store, which was convenient.

Actually there are many things that new people and animals have in common.
It is my main joy and wonder to have one to teach me just how far removed I am from the animal kingdom.
It is supposed to be my job to teach him to be less like a wild thing and more civilized like me but I often realize that it is HE that is teaching ME!

I have discovered that if I try to see things the way that The Boy sees them, it is like I am getting a chance to see it all over again, as if I have sent my eyeballs and brain in a time machine back and forth!
And what I realized is that there are many things that are easily dealt with when handle them as if it were the first time all over again.

The roles are reversed is what I am trying to tell you here.
It all came together at a perfect time for me.
I was loving most of my new responsibles of family and work, but at the same time I was seeing how quickly and easily one could get sick of running in that circle.
That circle of life.

Work your way to the middle, and then work your way down from there.
Try and find a happy medium!
Eventually I think you end up somewhere completely off the radar and from there you are pretty much set.
Welcome to freedom!!

If all goes to plan, then that is where The Boy, T-Dubs and I will be in about three years.
In a raft heading down river, getting in adventures and cracking each other up.
